Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army for Data, Engineering, and Software at DASA(DES), Jennifer Swanson, SES, recently spoke at the 2nd Annual Digital Engineering for Defense Summit on June 26-27 in National Harbor, MD.

In a recent LinkedIn post, Ms. Swanson shared, “It’s through Digital Engineering and all of our Army Digital Odyssey initiatives that enable us to accelerate rapid fielding of capabilities and then advance those capabilities in the field to keep up with and surpass our Nation’s adversaries”.

Ms. Swanson’s presentation, titled “Harnessing Digital Transformation to Advance Army Innovation and Readiness,” covered several critical areas:

  • Driving the implementation of digital engineering methodologies and practices across ASA(ALT) to modernize the Army’s acquisition and engineering efforts
  • Championing digital transformation and preparing the Army’s digital engineering strategy to align with the vision for the Army of 2030
  • Promoting interoperability, standards, and collaboration among digital tools and industry partners
  • Developing and integrating the Army’s Unified Data Reference Architecture to guide the use of data for the benefit of digital engineering and digital models

The Digital Engineering for Defense Summit convened over 200 attendees, bringing together innovators, engineers, decision-makers, and key military officials for collaborative discussions on the future of digital engineering innovation for the advancement of defense capabilities.
